. . performances

One of my many weaknesses, beside live music, is live performances, the theater.  Musicals, plays, readings, comedy….

Although these are a little indulgent on my travel budget, I do try to find discount tickets…and I am particular interested in unusual venues.

Chicago, @ the Ambassador Theater in NYC
On a whim we bought discount tickets near Times Square for a matinee.  It was delightful.

Alice in Wonderland, @ the Shaw Festival

16-theaterWhile visiting Niagara Falls, at Annie’s recommendation, I got Friday evening tickets to a show at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario Canada.   Love it.  The show had a very small cast, with performers playing multiple roles.  And the set designed by Eo Sharp was mesmerizing; with mirrored floor and the tea party set was incredible.

lobby1 Lobby Hero @ 1St Stage Theater in Tysons, VA

lobby2Thanks to Groupon, I landed great tickets to the Lobby Hero.  1st Stage is a great little venue, in an industrial building – very simple, but very well done.  And the play…done with 4 actors, 1 set and I was involved in every minute.
