I craft, I sew, I paint and I create. It is an obsession that mostly consumes my life and my home. I now find myself on the cusp of a life shift – in which I plan to take full advantage. In preparation for my life shit, I am downsizing my life. I need to purge most of my worldly possession – reduce my life down to 3 suitcases – each checkable on my flight from Los Angeles to New York City in the fall of 2016. That means eliminating hundreds of items and finding a place to let go of the things I create. “Have nothing in your homes that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” ~ William Morris Maybe everything in my home is not beautiful or even functional, but many items have a story to tell. Either the reason they were purchased in the first place or an experience they shared during their stay in my home. As I start to part with items – I plan to share some of these stories. Some of the items will be bundled together with a short story of their life with me. “A story was something you made up out of something that might have happened. Only you didn’t tell it like it was, you told it like you thought it should have been.” ~ Betty Smith, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn Not every story is completely true, some are more true than others. So this is my life – and my stuff…as it was, as it should have been….
