While in New Orleans I searched for a roof top bar to get a glimpse of the city from above. Luckily there was a nice little bar at the top of a boutique hotel, the Pontchartrain Hotel, Hot Tin, just a few blocks from our hostel. This adorable little bar is 11 stories above the city. We arrived in the late afternoon, just in time to catch the sunset and see the view both during the day and with the twinkling lights.
Two young gentlemen arrived and came out the patio with these delightful little glasses of filled with an amber glow. I asked what they were drinking…when they said that the bartender has just made it up on the spot…well that’s all I needed to hear. I had to have one. Honestly, I don’t have any idea what was in it. He did the little flame to the orange peel trick — but the ingredients are not important. It was the mystery that made it fun!
After a little prying I found out that the two gentlemen were there to take photos of drinks and bars….they had the amazing job of working for the marketing department of a liquor distributor — their job to seek out bars that carry the liquor they represent and have the bartender create a drink that could be photographed. I want that job!!
